With a Little Help From My Friends

I spent the last few days up island at Mt. Washington with a bunch of people (most of whom I already knew). The plan was to ski, but seeing as there was less than a foot of snow, that was not an option. We decided we'd go up and hang out anyway, and I ended up having a couple of the best days of my life. And while we were there, I realized just how important and helpful it is to have friends who really care about you.

As you know, I moved away from all my friends and family to go to Ontario for school. Last year was great. I was able to keep in touch with a bunch of my friends from Victoria and I made some good friends at school. This last term, however, has been a little harder, and I haven't been very good about staying in contact with people. When I was at Mt. Washington, I felt like every person there (even the ones I'd never met) genuinely cared about me. I reconnected with one of the only people I've ever been able to fully open up with, and boy did that feel good. Just to get all the emotions and thoughts I've been holding back out of my system, and to have someone listening who knows exactly how you feel, and exactly what you need to hear. Everybody should have a friend like that.

Another thing that happened to me is I got to talk to another blogger about the difficulties of talking when you don't think anybody is listening. That's probably the biggest challenge with a blog at first. Nobody can listen if you don't say anything, but you don't feel motivated to say anything if you feel like nobody is listening. Now, I'm not saying this just for me, but on behalf of all bloggers. If you read and enjoy a post, or a blog, tell the author. Give them some positive feedback, and you'll make their day, and possibly inspire them to keep going.

That is all for now, and I hope you have a marvelous day.

  1. Hello. Hello, is this thing on? I write and post photos, not for an audience, but for my own satisfaction, so many things make me stop and think, or laugh, or wonder, that I have to note it somehow. However, feedback is good. Feedback can be very good, especially if it hones your words and re-defines your thoughts. xx
